Providing Empathic Evidence-Based Care for Adolescents and Adults

Welcome to the Practice of Dr. Lauren Hammond

I am a clinical psychologist, licensed in the states of Washington and Michigan, and also permitted to practice telehealth in 40 states through PSYPACT* (see states listed below and for more information click here). I am in network with Aetna of Washington and Michigan, as well as Regence of Washington.

I work with individuals who are navigating big emotions and challenging experiences, including ongoing depression or anxiety, the effects of trauma, and self-harm or suicidal thoughts. I enjoy supporting people as they build new coping skills, move through life transitions, strengthen relationships, and explore their gender identity or sexual orientation in a safe and affirming space. I also have experience working with active-duty service members, veterans, and individuals going through family planning, infertility, and loss. I especially enjoy working with older teens (16+), young adults, and adults.

I approach therapy primarily from behavioral, cognitive, and mindfulness-based perspectives. I have specific expertise in:

  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Behavioral Activation (BA) for depression and anxiety.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for borderline personality disorder, as well as a range of additional disorders with emotion dysregulation.

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Dialectic Behavior Therapy Prolonged Exposure (DBT PE) for trauma, traumatic invalidation, and posttraumatic stress disorder.

  • Anti-oppressive care for the LGBTQIA+ community, including gender identity and sexual orientation exploration, as well as offering assessments and letters for gender affirming surgery.

  • Family planning and perinatal mental health, including discussions around the decision about whether or not to have a child, difficulties conceiving, grief and loss, and changes in your mood during and after pregnancy.
